Downtown Parking

Parking Meters: The City operates approximately 220 on-street meters. The meters are in operation Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with free parking at meters from Friday at 5:00 p.m. to Monday at 8:59 a.m. Parking is free on State and Federal Holidays (see parking calendar for official days). Maximum meter time ranges from 30 minutes to 3 hours depending on location. Meter charges are $ .25 per 30 minutes. Meters will accept US nickels, dimes, quarters or tokens only. Tokens may be obtained from participating validating merchants.  You may also use our smartphone app to pay for parking with a debit/credit card at one of our meter spaces (beginning November 1, 2014 - additional fees apply).

• Midtown Lot: The new payment system installed in 2014.  Learn more:  The City has 184 off-street spaces available in the Midtown Lot. The lot uses multi-space paystations (parking kiosks) to register your vehicle to park in the lot. The first half hour in the lot is free, and each additional hour is $1. To take advantage of the free half hour or to pay-to-park, each vehicle must be registered at the paystation by entering your license plate number.  If just taking advantage of half hour free parking, after entering license, press the green button to complete your transaction.  If you need additional time, deposit US coin or currency for the time you wish to park. Exact change only (machine does not give change).  The paystations also accept debit/credit cards and validation codes available from local participating merchants. • Clark Street Garage: The new payment system installed in 2014.  Learn more:  The City’s Clark Street Garage has 26 off-street spaces available for short-term (8 hours or less) on the first floor in the marked area. The garage uses multi-space paystations (parking kiosks) to register your vehicle to park. All spaces in the garage available for short-term parking are $1.00 per hour, and each vehicle must be registered at the paystation by entering your license plate number and then depositing US coin or currency for the time you wish to park.  Exact change only (machine does not give change). The paystations also accept debit/credit cards and validation codes available from local participating merchants. You may also use our smartphone app to pay for parking in this lot. If you live or work in the downtown area, the City has 31 on-street permit parking spaces (at $30 per month for residents, $35 for nonresidents) and 500 permit only spaces available in the Clark Street Garage ($30 per month for residents, $35 for nonresidents), and 20 off-street spaces in the Hickory Street Armory Lot ($30 per month for residents,                    $35 for nonresidents). Overnight parking for permits is                           only available in the Garage and Armory lots. All Permits                         have a $1.00 processing fee.

There is no parking in the Downtown Business District from 3:00 AM to 6:00 AM seven days a week. Overnight parking is permitted in the Midtown Lot and the hourly meter area of the Clark Street Garage. On-street parking is prohibited during these times so that Public Works can provide necessary street maintenance. This parking regulation is strictly enforced.
